A quick review of the current Tivo terms of service would seem to indicate that this new ad insertion plan might be outside the current terms. Here's why:
Well, I guess this is a good idea (depending on how you define "good ideas"): TiVo adds ads with DirecTV and Comcast | PVRblog
But, I do have ONE question: How will Tivo know when I was RECORDING the ads (and not the show)? In other words, say I worked in the Advertising industry, and I actually RECORD commercials for review. (All hypothetical, now...)
I couldn't really have Tivo overwriting the actual content I was intending to save and review, could I?
After all, what's next, Tivo actually INSERTING advertising into "commercial free" recordings; and then finally, simply doubling up on the commercials already part of a broadcast, so a recorded show has twice as many ads as when I recorded it?
I am beginning to think Tivo is trying to put itself out of business.
More later...
Just testing to see if the auto-footer is deleted after registration. It better be!
